WOT(Web Of Trust) Now Supports Social Networking Sites

Today when I opened Social Networking Giant Facebook I was quick to see there was WOT Ratings being displayed for every link. This really is a good news, as one can easily evaluate whether the link which is shared by the friend is malicious or not.

NOTE:Web of Trust is a cross-browser, crowd-sourced solution for evaluating a Web site's danger level. The intuitive warnings are clear and easy to read, and the add-on didn't adversely affect browser performance in our empirical test. Depending on the Web site you visit, the program's icon turns red, yellow, or green to illustrate the danger level. Clicking on the icon displays a chart showcasing Trustworthiness, Vendor Reliability, Privacy, and Child Safety. It works on Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Chrome. Opera and Safari don't directly support it, but there is a bookmark-let that you can use.

Add-on Compatibility Reporter

Many of you who use Mozilla Firefox regularly have noticed one common problem which resurfaces every time is that of, most popular add-ons become in compatible with the release of new version(i.e when Firefox gets updated from one version to other).

For such a kind of situation Firefox has developed an add-on named Add-On Compatible reporter. After installing the Add-on Compatibility Reporter, your incompatible extensions will become enabled for you to test whether they still work with the version of Firefox or Thunderbird that you're using. If you notice that one of your add-ons doesn't seem to be working the same way it did in previous versions of the application, just open the Add-ons Manager and click Compatibility next to that add-on to send a report to Mozilla.

With this application one can even submit the report & let add-on developers know what users are having problems with, or if their add-ons seem to work just fine in future versions of the product.

If you encounter problems and want to disable your incompatible add-ons again, uninstalling the Add-on Compatibility Reporter should revert to your previous compatibility checking settings.

Must & should have Firefox Addons

Firefox has much popularity over its competitors especially because of its speed, security with inbuilt protection against phishing & malware attacks. It is also popular because of its large pool of useful addon installed from their addon website http://mcaf.ee/6804a

Today i am going to share with you some of the top & very useful addon:

  1. Lastpass password manager: LastPass is a free online password manager and Form Filler that makes your web browsing easier and more secure. LastPass supports IE and Firefox as Plugins (Opera, Safari, Chrome, iPhone, Opera Mini via Bookmarklets), allows you to import from every major password storage vendor and export too, captures passwords that other managers won't including many AJAX forms, and allows you to make strong passwords easily. Your sensitive data is encrypted _locally_ before upload so even LastPass cannot get access to it. One Time Passwords & Screen Keyboard help protect your master password.
